Hello Clara,

Welcome to the EmpowHER community. I am glad you reached out to us with your concern.
Please contact your gynecologist's office to report this. Follow your physician's recommendations.

Breakthrough bleeding is common during the first few months of taking an oral contraceptive. But, it sounds like this just started for you and you have been on the pill for six months.

I am concerned that you are having vaginal bleeding while taking the active hormone pills. That is why you need to speak with your doctor.

I am concerned that you have been skipping periods. Is this because you are only taking the active pills? Did your doctor advise this? Or have you done this on your own to avoid having a period?

Aggressive sex can cause irritation and bleeding, but five days is a long time.

Clara, please keep in touch once you have spoken with and been seen by your doctor.
