Guide

Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER. I am glad you reached out to our community for advice.

Postinor 2 prevents pregnancy by preventing ovulation. It can be effective in preventing the release of a mature egg even if taken before ovulation.

You took the emergency contraceptive 30 hours after having sex. This was at least one day after you might have ovulated.

The pill causes changes in the cervical mucus, making it harder for sperm to reach and fertilize the egg.

There is nothing more to do then wait for vaginal bleeding. This would mean the pill worked and you did not become pregnant.

If you do not have any vaginal bleeding within three weeks of taking the pill, take a home pregnancy test. If you want to know sooner, contact your gynecologist. A blood pregnancy test can be done. Levels of hCG, which is the hormone produced by the cells that form the placenta, can be detected in blood about 11 days following conception. So, there is still a waiting time.

Regards,
Maryann
