Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER. Thank you for reaching out to our community with your concerns.

For the benefit of all our readers, decidual bleeding is not a commonly used medical term. The condition is often simply referred to as “First-Trimester Bleeding.”

As the name indicates, this condition leads to bleeding from the decidua, which is the epithelial tissue of the endometrium or the innermost lining of the uterus. The endometrium is the mucous membrane lining the uterus. The decidua is usually lost during each period of menstruation.

Decidual bleeding looks like fibrous blood clots. The bleeding rarely persists for more than a day. The amount of bleeding is usually much less than it occurs in a normal menstrual period. It may be accompanied by an uncomfortable sensation. In some individuals, there may also be a heavy sensation and even pain.

Anonymous, I think what you had was your monthly period.

A pregnancy test detects levels of hCG, which is the hormone produced during pregnancy. Levels can be detected in urine about 12 to 14 days following conception. That is why it is recommended that you test once your period is late by at least seven days.

Hope this answers your questions.
