Some will define a person as a virgin if he or she has never engaged in anal, oral or vaginal sex.
Others will say that a woman is still a virgin if she has an intact hymen. This is misleading.
The hymen is a thin, porous membrane that covers the vagina. Menstrual flow can pass through it. A woman can insert a tampon through it.
If you are concerned if your girlfriend is still a virgin, ask her.
