An emergency contraceptive, like Plan B, is effective if taken before ovulation and within 72 hours of unprotected intercourse.
The withdrawal or pull out method is not 100% effective.
Plan B can cause changes in the menstrual cycle. Your next period could start earlier or later than expected.
The recommendation is to test for pregnancy if you have not had any bleeding within three weeks of taking the pill.
An early response pregnancy test is accurate. But, if you took Plan B, because of the side effect of menstrual cycle changes, it might not be as effective.
