An emergency contraceptive, such as Plan B, primarily prevents pregnancy by preventing ovulation. That is why you are not having any symptoms of ovulation.
One reported side effect is a change in the menstrual cycle. The next monthly period can start earlier or later than expected. This is usually not by more than five days. Menstrual flow can be lighter or heavier than normal.
Now, if a woman takes an ECP repeatedly, there is the risk of changes in her menstrual cycle beyond one month.
Anonymous, you had bleeding after taking the pill, so you know it worked and you did not become pregnant. Please consider scheduling an appointment with a gynecologist to find out if by taking an ECP more than once a hormonal imbalance may have occurred. It will be a good time to start using some type of regular birth control, such as pills, getting the Depo-Provera injection or having an IUD inserted.
