Hello gabrielle55,

Welcome to the EmpowHER community. Thank you for reaching out to us with your issue.

Asperger Syndrome (AS) is a neurobiological disorder on the higher-functioning end of the autism spectrum. Individuals with AS and related disorders exhibit serious deficiencies in social and communication skills. Their IQ’s are typically in the normal to very superior range.

Each person is different. Many people with AS have a marked impairment in the use of multiple nonverbal behaviors such as: eye gaze, facial expression, body posture, and gestures to regulate social interaction. They can have extreme difficulty in developing age-appropriate peer relationships. They can have difficulty understanding other's feelings and difficulty with the give and take of conversation.

Borderline personality disorder (BPD) is a serious mental disorder marked by a pattern of ongoing instability in moods, behavior, self-image, and functioning. These experiences often result in impulsive actions and unstable relationships. A person with BPD may experience intense episodes of anger, depression, and anxiety that may last from only a few hours to days.

gabrielle55, you both have conditions that present challenges in a relationship. I can only suggest you seek the help of a psychologist or counselor trained in these fields.

Regards,
Maryann
