Guide

Hello Shani,

Welcome to the EmpowHER community. Thank you for reaching out to us for advice.

There is both an emotional or psychological and physical element to sexual intimacy.

Cultural and religious norms can impede a person's desire to have sex. Past abuse can impact a person's ability to enjoy sex. Fear of physical discomfort, fear of intimacy and fear of becoming pregnant can play a role.

I suggest you seek the help of a well-trained therapist or psychologist who can help you determine the reason you are feeling this way, and help you find ways to overcome your fear.

Ask your gynecologist for a referral.

Regards,
Maryann
