Q:

Acupuncture for pins & needles in toes does it help?

I have almost constant tingling in 3 toes of my right foot. Getting worse when in bed. I have taken Voltaren anti inflammatory as well as Paracetamol just to get some sleep.
I am otherwise healthy and the only other medication / tablets I take are Cartia and half of Zopiclone at night to help sleep.
Any suggestions I am looking at trying acupuncture.

Hi Patdhos

What is your diagnosis? Have you seen a health care provider about this nerve dysfunction?

There are many things that can cause neuro symptoms in your toes, and the treatments would differ depending on the problem. You can try acupuncture; it likely won't hurt and it may help, but it is important to get a diagnosis.

If you are diabetic and have neuropathy, the treatment would be quite different from the treatment for a lumbar spine problem or tarsal tunnel syndrome (compressed nerve in your ankle). This is why it is important to find out what is causing the problem before you try treating it.

Generally speaking, acupuncture is safe and can be helpful for many health conditions. However, it is not for everyone. I suggest you get a diagnosis before you seek out a practitioner. If you do end up going ahead with acupuncture, be sure you see a reputable practitioner so you avoid infection or other problems.

I personally have had acupuncture as part of my treatment for rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia. I found it helpful, but only after I had my conditions diagnosed. Good luck and thank you for writing.
