Q:

Am I Pregnant?

Hi, everyone. So last week my boyfriend and I were having some foreplay sessions. His penis did not touch my vagina at all, and I really don't think that he fingered me with semen or precum on his fingers. I believe this happened last Monday. And since last Wednesday, I have been really bloated, have had occasional cramps that are on-and-off in my pelvic area, I urinate very frequently, I want to eat all the time, my boobs have been sore, I am really tired and have frequent headaches, and I am also an emotional wreck. I thought it was just my period coming, but this has been going on for a week now and I am very worried that I might possibly be pregnant. I know this is probably a silly question, but I am worried. Can anyone help?

Are you sure? My symptoms are pretty much gone now which I find strange. I still have occasional cramps on both sides of my pelvic area, but those last for only less than a minute and don't happen very often. I am also still a little bloated, but it could just be because I was on vacation last week and I ate a lot. :P I don't think my period is late, but I am still very worried. Could me stressing over this make my period late, perhaps? I know this is probably silly as my chances of pregnancy are probably slim due to the fact that I had a normal period last month and the signs of pregnancy usually don't occur this early, and the fact that our genitals made no contact and I don't recall semen getting anywhere near my vagina. And I have never had sex before, but this still concerns me as I have read all over the internet that the mild on-and-off cramping could be a sign of pregnancy. Any comments?

Stress can definitely cause a late or missed period. But if you have had your period at its normal time every month then you are not pregnant-- you also didn't have any vaginal contact which makes it impossible for you to be pregnant. A small cramp is also a sign of ovulation so, you see, there are many possibilities of what it can be. If you are concerned about this pelvic cramping you can see your doctor but it seems like PMS--and it does eventually go away.

Good luck :)

Hi NaviOfTime,

It sounds like your initial thoughts of it being your period coming may be right, Pre-menstrual symptoms can occur as much as 1-2 weeks before your period. If he didn't ejaculate anywhere near or in your vagina, then you are not pregnant.

Here are symptoms of PMS:

Irritability
Mood swings
Anxiety
Depression
Diminished self-esteem
Difficulty concentrating
Sleep problems
Appetite changes (sugar and/or salt cravings, overeating)
Weight gain
Fatigue
Bloating
Headache
Breast swelling and tenderness
Palpitations
Dizziness
Gastrointestinal upset
Diffuse muscle pain

Keep in mind that these symptoms can also be other health conditions, for example-- if you feel like your headaches are intensifying, I would give my doctor a visit.

All the best,

Rosa
