And what about sitting and drinking the esophagus than also remains same and can be hit hard I don't think that there is any change in motion of water when we sit and drink

Answer: When we drink, sitting down, we drink filtered by the sphincter. Sphincter is a structure (muscular) which can be opened (so that urine can pass) and close. Any water we drink will be provided at the post - post filtering are in the renal.

Well if we drink stand, the water we drink without filtered directly into the bladder, causing the precipitation channeled ureter. Waste - Waste deposition in the ureter remaining is what can lead to diseases peculiar crystal that is one dangerous kidney disease. One symptoms is difficult urination.

Dear, with all due respect and without bias to any religion:
Sphincters are circular muscles at certain passages, and yes they open and close to allow fluids in and out. There are over 50 Sphincters in the human body. However Sphincter does not have any filter action.

All that water can contain while you drink it is dissolved salts. Anything else which is solid is digested in the normal way. Water mixed with all the post-digested material(waste that will form feces) is passed to the colon(the last part of your intestine), where it gets absorbed into blood. - This is why doctors ask you to drink enough water to avoid constipation.

It is good to note that water is absorbed from the waste material by osmosis. Water absorption at the colon typically proceeds against a transmucosal osmotic pressure gradient. The standing gradient osmosis is the reabsorption of water against the osmotic gradient in the intestines. This hypertonic fluid creates an osmotic pressure that drives water into the lateral intercellular spaces by osmosis via tight junctions and adjacent cells, which then in turn moves across the basement membrane and into the capillaries. So absorbed/re-absorbed water goes to the blood. Which is later carried through the renal arteries to the Kidneys.

The Kidneys are indeed filters. They filter the blood to remove impurities including Urea and uric acid. Vital nutrients like amino acids and glucose are also re-absorbed. Kidney also produces Urine which is channeled to the Urinary bladder via Ureters. Urine is a super saturated liquid, i.e. it contains a high density of dissolved salts and other wastes. Hence, In case the water you drink has a lot of dissolved salts, the saturation in your urine will increase.

Please note that until the kidneys, standing or sitting to drink water does not make any obvious difference.

From studies, it is clear that from the time of drinking water, it starts showing up in the bloodstream in around 5 minutes (See more at: http://www.jci.org/articles/view/102366/scanned-page/1296)

To talk about precipitation in Ureters :
The urinary tract acts as a temporary storage for urine, before it is excreted through urination. Sometimes solutes occur in amounts too high to stay dissolved in urine and hence start precipitating and aggregate to form stones. There are many reasons why this could happen, including certain medical conditions. You can read more on this here : http://www.auanet.org/education/kidney-stones.cfm

Another possible explanation could be that if we have 2-3 glasses of water it could be heavy on your stomach and if you are sitting, it would be more comfortable - like having a meal while being seated.

I hope this was written without prejudice to anyone or bias to any religion.
Par scientific evidences, now it is up to your conscience to judge and believe.

Thank you for your time.

Henry Jackson - why don't you provide a factual reason as to why its wrong rather than your personal view which contains no evidence!!!!

I came here in search of the same answer. However, somebody once told me that if you stand & drink the water goes into one kidney....and if you sit & drink, its divided equally to both kidneys and so it balances out the functions of the kidneys. Although i find complete logic in it but i still have to confirm if its true. And yes, my parents and teachers always told me to sit & drink. Its a part of mannerisms in islam and even the national cricket team of Pakistan sits and drinks water as taught in Islam. We know the reason is health benefits but not exactly what the benefits could be! So, i'm hunting for reasons now :D

Drinking water while sitting is the way Islam taught us , YES and its now proven to be a healthy medical too, this is what I heard from many doctors.( drinking water while standing will allow the stomach to expand and would cause ulcer . you need to sit and drink room temperature and drink it in to small stages .
