Q:

Bleeding and possible pregnancy

I've been tracking my periods for close to a year now and they have always come on time, lasting 6 days. Last month I was 2 days late and was on for 4 days. This month I was 5 days late and was only on for 2 days. Could it be possible that I am pregnant, or maybe just having an irregular period?

Hi Anon,

Welcome to EmpowHER.  A woman's cycle is not always the same.  Sometime it can change due to many things like

  • Significant weight gain or loss
  • Over-exercise
  • Poor nutrition
  • Smoking
  • Drug use
  • Caffeine
  • Excessive alcohol use
  • Eating disorders
  • Increased stress
  • Polycystic ovarian syndrome/estrogen dominance
  • Uterine abnormalities (fibroids/cysts/polyps/endometriosis)
  • Hormonal imbalance related to perimenopause
  • Medications
  • Chemotherapy
  •

You might want to take a home pregnancy test to be sure if you are indeed pregnant.

    Best,

    Daisy
