I have been on the pill for several years. My last period was June 23. I missed a week between packs of birth control because my prescription expired, but resumed taking it July 3. My partner and I had sex on July 2,3, and 4. We used a condom each time and there was no contraceptive failure to my knowledge about nine days ago I began experiencing very bad breast tenderness, on the top of the breast toward the armpit, gas, and twitches in my abdomen. I have taken four pregnancy tests- 12, 13, and 14 days past ovulation. All were negative, though one showed what i think was an evaporation line (12 dpo). My period won't come until next week, since I delayed my cycle by missing one week of birth control. What could be causing these symptoms?
If it helps, I started taking Doryx on the 14th of July. Also, my doctor suspects I have some form of arthritis (probably rheumatoid as my family has a history of it) which will be confirmed at an appointment in two weeks. Do either of those contribute to my symptoms? If not, what does?

Since I missed a week of birth control, my period should have been due yesterday. But because I began taking it at re beginning of the pack, my period won't come until next week. I still tested when my period should've come (14 and 15 days past ovulation) and had a negative result. Should I retest next week?

Wait until your period is due to start next week. If you don't get a period then test for pregnancy. But try not to stress out about this since stress can cause a delayed or missed period.
Keep us posted!

dcpolitico,
Thanks for your question! For an accurate pregnancy test, it is advised to wait until your period is actually late to begin testing. Any tests done more than one week before a late period will likely not pick up any traces of the hcg hormone.
Common side effects of Doryx are:
diarrhea
itching of the rectum or vagina
sore mouth
If you experience any of these symptoms, call your doctor immediately:
severe headache
blurred vision
skin rash
hives
difficulty breathing or swallowing
redness of the skin (sunburn)
yellowing of the skin or eyes
itching
dark-colored urine
light-colored bowel movements
loss of appetite
upset stomach
vomiting
stomach pain
extreme tiredness or weakness
confusion
decreased urination
Rheumatoid Arthritis can cause chest pain when breathing in but nothing like breast tenderness. Breast tenderness can occur when your period is on its way and isn't really a symptoms that is specific to pregnancy. If you begin to feel pain or have any of the serious side effects of Doryx, please contact your doctor asap.
All the best,
Rosa
