I was taking three different antibiotics earlier this month and now I'm one week late for my period. I'm not on birth control but I've been having protected sex. Before I take a pregnancy test I was just wondering is it possible that the antibiotics through off my cycle?

Hi vslv92,

Antibiotics can cause a decrease in effectiveness of birth control pills, however one of their side effects is not a missed or late period. If you are one week late, you should consider taking a pregnancy test.

If it's negative, then the late period can be caused by stress or other factors.

Best wishes,

Rosa
