Q:

Can the Bartholin abscess be cured by taking antibiotics and pain killers at home or get it drained at hospital? I learnt that the drainage is painfull and recurring chances are there. So I want to let it heal itself by taking tablets. Can I ?

Hello. Thank you for posting.

A Bartholin's abscess can occur when one of the Bartholin's glands, located on either side of the opening of the vagina, becomes infected. A cyst will usually form when the gland is blocked. If the cyst becomes infected, it can lead to a Bartholin's abscess. It is not common for a Bartholin’s abscess to get better on its own. Usually, the abscess needs to be drained through surgery. This is something you need to discuss with your doctor. Keep us updated.
