I am due for my period today so for the heck of it I took an opk and it came out positive, my cycles are always regular so I know for sure it is due today, but has not come yet...could there be a possibility I could be pregnant? I can't go to the store right away to get a pregnancy test...please help.

An ovulation predictor kit tests for different hormones than a pregnancy test does. An ovulation predictor kit looks for LH (lutenizing hormone), which surges just before ovulation. A home pregnancy test looks for HCG, which is the pregnancy hormone.

That said, it is possible to use an OPK to test for pregnancy. And they often do show up as positive. But it could be detecting amounts of LH in your urine, because it's so similar to HCG. So a positive result from an OPK is not as reliable as a positive result from a HPT.

Here's a good explanation if you need more info:

Sounds like you're trying to conceive. Good luck!
