Can a pregnancy test be wrong?

I have recently married on June 4th 2011 and my husband and I have been trying to get pregnant. For the past few months my period has been very irregular, however i did not have a period at all this past month. I took a test and it said negative. should I take another test. is it possible for the test to be wrong and do I have to take it in the morning time??
