Q:

Can you have egg white like discharge during a cycle and not ovulate or is that the key signal that ovulation has/will occured?

My period is two weeks late. My last 2 periods started on June 12th and July 12th. I am not on birth control. I've taken a number of pregnancy tests and they are all negative. A few days ago I had wet/egg white like/fertile discharge. Is it reasonable to assume that I ovulated at that time or are there other reasons why I would experience that type of discharge? I can't seem to get any info from my physician.

Thank you so much for your input.

Hello and thank you for choosing EmpowHer,
Discharge is the natural way the vagina eliminates waste. Of course the consistency of the discharge will signify a certain level of fertility. However, this type of discharge can happen at any time, not just when you miss a period. I'm uncertain if your concern is the discharge or the missed period.
If you are concerned you are pregnant then perhaps you should take a blood test. If your concern is the discharge, it is normal. Abnormal discharge is dark yellow or green and is usually accompanied by itching or burning sensations.
