Me and my boyfriend use condoms during sex and we use a good amount of water based lubricant to prevent the condom from tearing. My boyfriend also makes sure to pull out when he ejaculates with a condom on. I also check for tears in the condoms. Recently I felt like my period was coming on and after me and my boyfriend had sex I had a sharp pain in my lower abdomen. My period still hasnt come and my last period was around October 23. I have been feeling cramps lately and my bladder sometimes looks larger which is how it looks when my period is coming. I've also been having a thick white discharge. I think my nerves are what is causing it to be late. I took two pregnancy tests and both read negative. Is my period just really late? Can sex delay your period?

Dear Jessica,
Sex does not delay periods but stress does. Do you usually have irregular periods? If you have recently taken pregnancy tests that are negative then you are not pregnant. Remember that your amt of discharge can change throughout the month and that if it is odd/foul smelling that you should pay a visit to your OB/GYN. Other causes of delayed periods include: exercise, weight loss/gain, perimenopause (which may not apply to you depending on your age), and illness.
Please wait for your period to come and keep us posted,
Rosa
