Kuki,

When were you expecting your period (I assume that's what "p" is)?

The home pregnancy tests, taken after you have missed your menstrual period, are extremely effective at detecting any "pregnancy hormones".

It sounds as if you do not believe your boyfriend, or are suspicious of him not wearing a condom, or knowing the condom broke and not telling you?

Can you tell us:
- When was the first day of your last menstrual cycle?
- When did you have sex (protected and unprotected)?
- When did you take emergency contraception, if at all?
- Are you using any other form of birth control (like the pill)?

I'm asking these questions just to be more clear on what exactly happened, but from your original description, it sounds like you had protected intercourse with a condom. Your boyfriend asked you to take emergency contraception ("EC"), but you don't mention if you actually used EC. This is an important piece of the puzzle!

If you did take EC within 120 hours of intercourse, are certain a condom was used during intercourse, have missed your period and took a home pregnancy test after you missed your period, then you can be fairly confident in the results of the home pregnancy test.

Also, if you did use EC, then it is normal to have an irregular menstrual period and/or spotting, as EC is basically a "mega dose" of hormones (same as in the pill), and can disrupt your cycle (nothing harmful).

Lastly, the symptoms you describe could be anything...an upcoming period (PMS), being stressed and worried...you name it. Pregnancy symptoms do not usually begin until after a missed period, and many women do not feel any symptoms until they are at least 5 weeks pregnant, and these are vague/general symptoms that are not "tell-tale" signs of pregnancy until a positive test result.

If you are still worried, you can always go to your doctor's office or a local health clinic for an in-office pregnancy test.
