I get tired after our dinner meal only and have fallen asleep setting up if I sleep for an hour or so I am fine. I have always had low blood sugar my hole life I am 64 and also my mother got it about this age. Should I have my doctor check my blood sugar?

Did you mother test positive for diabetes?
I think it's a good idea to talk to your doctor about this for a blood test, and also ask to be checked for anemia. Let her/him know your mother followed a similar pattern.
