My young teen daughter stayed the night at a friends. I found out she had sex. She had her period 4 days later. And now this month she is 7 days late. I made her take a pregnancy test on her 5th day late and it was negative. I am so upset and I just can't believe any of this has happened. The house she was at the parent is a respected teacher in our community I never would have thought anything like that could have happend. Please help

Oh i will for sure. Hopefully it will be soon. She told me earlier she was having cramps so maybe it is starting. We will see. I am so happy I found this website. I have found it very interesting and helpful.

I am sorry that you and your daughter are going through this.

From your description, no it is not possible for your daughter to be pregnant after her one sexual experience, followed by a menstrual period. Her period indicates that she does not have a pregnancy. Pregnancy tests, when taken after an expected period has not begun and about two weeks after sexual episode, are 99% accurate.

Young teenagers still can have extremely irregular periods ( many older women do as well), and things like excess stress can also delay a period.

Thank you so much this makes me feel so much better. I didn't think it was possible but just worried since her period was so close to the time she had sex. I know we all have irregular periods sometimes but this is the first time hers has been late. Hopefully she will start soon. I have been so stressed out and I haven't been able to talk to anyone about it because I am so embarassed. But thank you again for answering my question. I feel like a ton of bricks has been lifted from my shoulders.
