Hi alejandra,
I'm not sure what your question is. Are you wanting to change doctors, or keep the same doctor that you've seen three years ago?

You can choose what doctor you would like, depending on many factors:
- your health insurance (is your doctor within your policy's plan?)
- is your GYN from three years ago seeing women for gynecolgical and obstetrical appointments? Some doctors will see OB/GYN patients; others will change to only see GYN (meaning: "OB" will deliver a baby and see you throughout your prenatal appointments. "GYN" will only see women for gynecological visits and not during pregnancy)

It sounds like you want to keep your same doctor from three years ago, and you will need to just call and ask if your doctor is available for OB appointments.

Just in case you are wanting to switch doctors:
- Most health insurance plans will allow you to choose your doctor within a certain "network", and you can choose whomever you would like (within your policy guidelines); it is your choice to switch doctors.
- If you are switching doctors, you will need to call your new doctor's office and ask if they are seeing new patients (some offices will want to only see patients who are already established with their practice; others this is not a requirement). Your new doctor will need your written permission to request your health records from your previous doctor.

Does this answer your question?

Alejandra,

Yes, if you went to a doctor three years ago they should still have your records. When you make an appointment, tell them that you are an old patient. They may put their older records in a different place, and that will give them time to find them. Many women go to the same doctor for their ob/gyn work and for their pregnancies with a few years in between. You should have no problem.
