Hello and welcome to EmpowHer,
January 17, 2016 - 11:39amOvarian cysts can cause irregular menstrual bleeding, as well as ovarian fibroids and polyps. However, these issues are common and most of the time resolve themselves.
However, if you are experiencing menorrhagia (extremely heavy menstrual bleeding) you need to see a doctor. In addition to uterine fibroids and polyps, menorrhagia can be caused by thyroid problems, pelvic inflammatory disease etc.
Sometimes being overweight and experiencing extreme stress can causes hormonal imbalances as well.
I suggest that you do two things. First, visit your gynecologist to find out the cause of your heavy minatorial cycles. Focus on a healthy lifestyle, avoiding processed foods and exercise at least 2 or 3 times a week.
Let us know if you have any more questions.
