Taking cytomel only gaining weight:-(
I am terrified of adding synthroid to the cytomel which is what a new endocrinologist has suggested 75 mcgs synthroid to 50 mcgs t3.

Hi Anon,

Welcome to EmpowHER.  If she needs a dosage adjustment on the thyroid medication, the only way to know is seeing a doctor.  So he can check through blood work, her TSH levels and he might suggest for her to have imaging test done as well.

Hello, I am writing for my mom's sake. She has had hypothyroidism since age 65, now 84. Her memory is ok, not clear at some times, or confused, anxiety, depressed yet after walking she is clear. Doctor prescribed Arisept and in the week thought she had just moved to her apartment when she had been living there for 13 years. Doc's say she had various minor strokes. Taking levothyroxine all these years. About 75-100mg. Could her body be so use to this medicine it is asking for a different thyroid medicine? And in Miami Beach is there a endocrinologist you would recommend? Thanks, Cecilia
