Extremely Irregular Menstrual Cycles

I am a 25 year old mother of two, both which were delivered by cesarean section. 4 years ago I had my tubes tied after my second child. I have always had very regular periods, and occasionally I would be a few days late. Normally my periods would last from 5-7 days with the first tow days being heavy. For at least 6 months now I will get my period and have a normal period with cramps and bleeding like I normally do, from 5-7 days, then about 4 to 5 days later I get a full on period AGAIN! But this "period" has no cramps, tenderness, or any of my normal period symptoms, but the blood flow is not light, it is bright red and exactly like I am on my period again. This lasts anywhere from 7-10 days. And at first it did not seem to concern me, but it continues to happen almost every month. I am not sure what to do because I haven't had a pap smear in 4 years because I have no health insurance and I am not able to afford the exam. I have been with the same partner for 4 years so I do not think it is due to any kind of STD's. But I would greatly appreciate any advice on what I can do to maybe ease this problem, or fix this problem. I have not had any significant weight loss or gain, I am not on any type of birth control, I am under some stress (due to nursing school) but nothing too severe, so I am at a loss and would love some advice PLEASE!!!!

Hi.this.wonderful.life,

Thank you for sharing your question with the EmpowHER community.

If you have been dealing with this for 4 years and it hasn't gone away, whatever it is , if it's not being treated then it's progressing. It can be something simple but still needs to be addressed. Check your area to see if there is a clinic in your area that will charge you for services based on your income. But please don't continue to put it off. Talk to them about making payments. You health is worth the conversation.

Be well,
~Gillette
