I have a friend who was diagnosed with bipolar disorder years ago and seems to be handing it well now. However, she has episodes and I'd like to know how I can best help here during these times. Are there things I definitely should or shouldn't do?

Welcome to EmpowHER. Bipolar ups and downs can be difficult for the person with this disorder, but also for everyone around them. Some ways you can help your friend, is by first learning as much as you can about Bipolar disorder, encourage them to get help, be understanding and be patient. Managing bipolar is a lifelong process.
