How Often Do You Trim Your Hair?

I've been trying to grow my hair out for as long as I can remember, but I have a hard time because it grows so slow and is so fragile, and while I want longer hair, I also want it to be healthy.

I usually go every 6 to 8 weeks to remove the dead ends, but maybe this is too often. Anyway, I was just wondering how often you trim your hair?

Why would anyone cut off all there damaged hair at one time? From the looks of it "Pat" has pretty short hair LOL. I would just get a trim every 4-6 months. You said your hair grows slow, so maybe every 6 months would be fine. By trimming your hair after it has grown in a bit, you are allowing some extra length to play with. I tend to wrap mine up a few times a week too. This helps keep the sun and earthy chemicals off of it a while. I also do not wash it too much, maybe two or three times a week depending on the weather and if I get it really dirty. For some reason the dirt seems to protect it as well.

Thank you both for those suggestions. Looks like I'll have to budget for it, but it's definitely a good investment and something I would like to have.

Just wanted to add that although I don't follow a raw diet, the Jack Lalaine Juicer is very durable and reliable and if the raw diet doesn't work out as you'd hoped there is always fresh fruit juice. Breville, as the poster above me suggested, is also a great brand.

Good Luck!

This small juicer is great.
I would highly recommend starting to juice for about a billion reasons, one being that eating raw veg and fruit and juicing is the only way to get enzymes into your body which repair, build and benefit in so many ways. Most of the foods we eat are at best, neutral.
I certainly don't regret my juicer. Our family drinks about a pint each a day and all of us have felt benefits. The most annoying thig is cleaning it. Good luck.

Shannon, When I worked from home for three years I didn't blow dry my hair anymore or really use much product in it. For the first time in my life I finally had healthy hair that grew. I would suggest to continue with your regular hair cuts, but slow down or stop using the dryer, curling iron, etc. if possible. Hope this helps.

That really is great advice, but I curl my hair maybe once every two months and only blow dry my hair 2-3 times per week. Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to help me, but I hope others read this and can benefit from your sound advice!

Juice vegetables mostly. My hairdresser was amazed as I started growing all these new little hairs at once at the same time that I began the juicing. She also said that my hair was growing like a weed!

I am so sorry, Pat, about your going through chemo. Juicing would be great for you in so many ways. The vegetables I use are beets, spinach, kale, collard greens, brocolli, asparagus, cabbage and zucchini. I will pick maybe four of these vegetables, add one apple to make it taste better and a little ginger and lemon. I have seen super results, including the improvement in hair quality. I have also noticed that my nails are getting stronger, my skin is not breaking out, I have more energy and I even have seen improvement in a little arthritis I have in the arms and hands.
I recommend a good Breville juicer.

There is lots of information out there but here are a list of reasons to juice.
I also find that my digestion is working great and I have lost about 10 pounds in weight that were really just vanity pounds and have kept them off.
