Q:

I have been dealing with a rash for about 6 weeks now, what could it be?

I noticed a shiny red area of skin on my shin a few days after getting a severe sunburn. I had injured my foot a few weeks prior and got a boot put on for the following 3 weeks. During this time, the rash didn't go away nor did it spread. I have no itching or pain from it. I was put on an anti-inflammatory, meloxican, for the entirety of my injury- before cast thru taking it off about a week ago. I have been out of the boot for a little under a week now and the area that was red and shiny has become more scaly and a little more of a purple tone- barely noticeable. Still no symptoms. What do you think this could be?

Hi Anon,

Welcome to EmpowHER.  The rash in your face can be from an infection, a reaction to a medication or food, inflammation and many other conditions.  You need to be seen by a dermatologist.  So he can confirm the cause of the rash.

Best,

Daisy
