Q:

I just heard there are 400 news alzheimers drugs in trials. How close are they to finding a medication that will stop the tangles?

I have read about Germany and China using stem cell with dementia. I know there is a problem with continuing to multiply once beyond the brain barrier. I also saw they are using stem cell for dementia in Tailand. I would like some sites that are talking about stem cell and dementia and also, what meds in trials are looking promising. Our family has a history of dementia. I have mild cognitive impairment, my mother has severe dementia, my grandmother also had dementia. This is all the women in this line. I am extremely concerned because I have five daughters. My second girl is 44 and is having declines.

Hi Sherryl,

When there are hundreds of drugs being tested for Alzheimer's, only a few will actually make it to the market-- this is a good thing! Unfortunately, because they're still in trials, it's impossible to know which sound promising right now but hopefully only the best make it through to our medicine cabinets. I trust and hope that there will soon be a cure for dementia... for you, your family, and all others dealing with dementia in their lives.

Wishing you the best,

Rosa
