Thanks for your response Coach Virginia,
May 18, 2009 - 9:37pmI find it amazing that all of these years I have researched little on the reproductive system. I had a beautiful child at age 22, who is now 14. What a blessing! It was and has been the best thing that has happened to me in my life. I have done more research now on the topic of pregnancy. However, the most important thing I’ve learned is getting to know your own body and how it functions. I have not been in the position to become pregnant, but with my age I get excited about the possibility. Information is somewhat conflicting, but I am glad to have someone answer my question because I think I just wanted to hear that answer. I understand the days of the cycle (and learning my own), the fertile window, and the physiologic process better now. I learned a lot about cervical mucus and understand from examining it. It is definitely approaching or I have approached the ovulation stage. I decided to buy a pregnancy test that included the ovulation tests, but those are hard to read. I think the line was pretty much the same color, but the control line was thicker. I had intercourse two times 2-3 days ago. I wasn’t good about my record keeping and that is why I am here now. Any information regarding reading those ovulation tests? I think I am in the waiting process now. If I did ovulate today, let’s say tomorrow, when can I take an ept? Do you really think again that it is a high possibility? Thanks.

Dear Anon, we get so many questions like yours and I wonder if you have had a chance to read those related links. I highly recommend you do.
Here are my two cents on your question: YES! Anyone having intercourse without protection has a greater chance of getting pregnant unless you have a reproductive system that is "bullet" proof. Sperm can live for a few days inside you. There are many factors not just your period cycle timing that determines pregnancy, it is also the "donor" of the sperm. If you DO NOT want to get pregnant I suggest using protection. Why live with fear? You can enjoy sex more fully just by making wise decisions about pregnancy prevention. On the other hand, if you are looking at getting pregnant, it is very possible you could be. But I suggest waiting a few days and see what happens. If you do get your period, better luck next time.
Both of my children were concieved when I was 100% sure I could not possibly be pregnant, go figure!
