Irregular Menstrual Bleeding, Please help.

I started to notice some spotting on the 26th of June so I started to wear a pad each day thinking I might have started my menstrual cycle. However, it was just a little here and there, and I was confused at first thinking this is the scarcest period I have ever had. Then it stopped for two days on the 5th and 6th of July. I didn't wear a pad. But then it bled through my underwear on the 7th suddenly and the spotting lasted until the 12th of July. It seemed that my menstrual cycle started on that day, and I have been flowing heavily and changing my pad every 2 and a half hours on average since, coupled with a few mild to moderate cramps. It is now the 16th of July and it seems like it is the first day of my menstrual cycle. I am really concerned that there is something majorly wrong with my health.

I had the exact same issue around the same time. I finally had to go to the er after a sudden douse of the red stuff happened. They did 2different types of ultra sounds and blood test and found out uts just my hormones and my levels needed balancing. He put me on a low dose of bc for one month. Thry first day it stopped it and thats was yesterday. Go to your doctor.

Hello Missie,
Other than regular cramping I haven't had any pain. I am 21 years old. I will wait for my next cycle. I have noticed it seemed to calm down over the last two days to almost nothing. Thank you for your very helpful advice. You have certainly been a great confidence boost!

Hi again Anonymous,
If this is the first episode of the irregular period, I would wait and see if it continues to your next cycle. Sometimes, for no explanation, we have odd menstrual cycles. Another question I would ask is, how old are you? Are you experiencing any abnormal pain besides regular cramping pains? I would say if you are concerned or experience any pain, seek your physicians assistance immediately.

Thanks,
Missie

Thanks for responding Missie.

I haven't been on birth control, but I haven't been having sex. I was thinking of asking my doctor but I did not go in yet. I was afraid that I was just reading more into what was going on and hoping it would just blow over and stop. I was researching a little to see what might have caused it, and I found Empowher. I thought it was a good place to get some advice before I have to pay a doctor's bill.

Hi Anonymous,
Thank you for your question and welcome to Empowher. From your story, you have been bleeding for approximately 20 days now? Have you contacted your Doctor or made an appointment? Are you on birth control?
Thanks for any additional information.
Missie
