We had sex 3 days priors yo indicated ovulation and day of. My cycle isn't supposed to start until Sept 6 and is usually on time. On Sept 3rd I experienced bright red spotting for a min then what was like a heavier spill but nothing more than a liner and then disappeared for the rest of the day. On Sept 4, (today) no bright red blood only a small amount of light brown discharge. Breast are extremely tender even just resting, no extreme nausea just specific foods sound gross, some abdominal pain, random hot moments and occasional dizzy feelings. Could this be implantation or period? Is it too early to test?

Hi Anon,

Thank you for sharing your question with the EmpowHER community! We get questions like this all the time, and even speaking from experience...it sounds like you are pregnant!

Have you been trying to conceive? The light brown discharge definitely sounds like implantation bleeding. I had that with both of my pregnancies and sore breasts. I never had nausea, not all women will get this common symptom. I felt extremely tired, like I wanted to nap all day.

Most tests will tell you if you are pregnant 5 days before a missed period. You should get a result if you take it today as your period is due in 2 days. I will warn you, that I took a test too early and it came back negative, I waited a couple more days, took one again and it came back positive.

Anon, are you trying to get pregnant? If you take a test today, will you let me know the results? I can provide you with some more information either way :-)

Best,

Kristin

Hi, thanks for the response. My concern is that the light brown discharge has been an all day thing and my period can begin like that but could it implantation still? It hasn't been much but it's there. We've been trying so hopefully this time is it. I'm going to test in the am because I know the morning bathroom run is the best time yes? Any other advice?
Thanks! !
