Hello precious23,

Welcome to the EmpowHER community. I can only imagine how frightened you must be.

I realize you are concerned if Postinor 2 will work since this horrible event happened a day before you expected to ovulate. Yes, it will work. Postinor 2 prevents pregnancy in two ways. It prevents ovulation from happening. If ovulation has occurred, it causes changes in the cervical mucus to make it harder for sperm to reach and fertilize the released egg.

I am very concerned about how you are handling this assault. Have you reported it to the police? Are you getting professional counseling, such as from a psychologist either through your doctor's office, crisis hot-line or the emergency room of the local hospital? Do you have a strong support system within your family?

Keep in touch,
Maryann

Hello precious23,

The decision to report the rape is yours to make.

You will know if the pill worked once you have vaginal bleeding or spotting. If nothing happens within the next three weeks, then test for pregnancy.

Maryann
