I tore my acl a year ago, March 10 running hurdles at track practice. It has been a dramatic and inconsistent come back to get better but i really really want to compete again. I have one more year of eligibility left.

Anon,
What do your doctors say about the chance of your coming back next year?
How was your ACL repaired?
Can you tell us the things that have been "dramatic and inconsistent" about your recovery? Are you still in physical therapy?
General consensus in the research I did was that people are fully recovered from ACL injuries between 6 and 9 months later, but that every individual (and the extent of their injury, and the kind of surgery they had) is different. Also, sprinting puts even more pressure on a healing injury because you go from a dead stop to full out immediately. That sort of performance may take longer to achieve.
Here is one doctor's timeline for his recovering athletes:

Does this help?
