Hi,
I've been having irregular periods over the last three months - in August my periods were delayed by 10 days and I bled for about nine days straight. In September I got my periods twice, and now, in October I've been bleeding for 13 days. Today is the 13th day and I'm getting extremely frustrated having to deal with this every day. I have never had sex, never been on birth control pills and I'm 25 years old. I do not have an iron deficiency either. Where's the problem?

Hello. Thank you for your message.
A normal menstrual cycle lasts 28 days, plus or minus seven days. Menstrual bleeding is considered irregular if it occurs more frequently than every 21 days or lasts longer than 8 days. Missed, early, or late periods are also considered signs of an irregular cycle. Our hormones dictate our periods and many things can impact a woman's cycle (besides pregnancy). Stress, illness, weight loss, a hormonal imbalance, to name a few.
