Smustang,
The word "safe" is not easily answered, as there are so many factors that relegate a supplement to be considered safe or unsafe.
The FDA does not regulate supplements, and we can not tell you if this product is safe by these standards. From my knowledge, the only diet pill approved by the FDA is Alli, and this has many unpleasant side effects for some women; others have found it useful.
The specific ingredients in diet pills may/may not be safe, depending on factors including: individual's personal health history, current medications and supplements, how product is used, etc.
Diet pills should always be used under a physician's care, as they contain stimulants and other active ingredients that can cause mild, moderate or severe side effects in some individuals. Please know that some people use diet pills without experiencing severe side effects, but as with any diet pill...you must continue eating well and exercising for the weight loss to be maintained. There is not a diet pill created that enables you to lose weight without exercising and without altering your eating habits.
You would be interested in following this discussion thread, as the safety factor in these pills are discussed: Jillian Michaels Diet Pills: Do they really work (and are they safe?), and women who "love" the pill and women who "hate" the pill have posted to this thread.
You mentioned that you have a "hurt back". Are you seeing a health care provider for this? Are you on any pain management medications (diet pills and pain medicine do NOT mix!)? Are you able to talk with your provider(s) about exercise options? Are you able to meet with a Registered Dietitian about healthy eating options?
