I'm wondering what is going on with me. I do have a dr. appointment on Monday...but hoping for some insight...

Last month my period was right about on time - around 29 days. However, I had 4 days of brown blood/discharge and on the 5th day I had heavy red blood. It was strange. I then started feeling neasuous every day. Took a pregnancy test - Negative. Stayed sick to my stomach for another few weeks. Took another test - Negative. I was home sick with a summer cold for a week. I stayed in bed that entire time and extremely hungry.

Now it's August - and my period tried to start with the same brown blood, but stopped the same day. This was around 29 days. Took another pregnancy test - Negative. Now I'm at day 34 and it's trying to do a little bit of brownish discharge again.

My stomach looks very bloated.

I scheduled an appointment with my doctor for Monday - but I'm hoping one of you may have some insight for me.

We are trying to have another baby. However, I'm now worried that being 39, what if I'm starting a perimenopause.

Thank you - :)

I am glad to hear that you are going to the doctor's tomorrow, for some piece of mind.

From what you describe, I am not surprised that your pregnancy tests are negative, as you have had menstrual bleeding, or a "period", regardless of its color, amount of flow, duration, etc.

Many women's periods either start or end with brown blood, and this is very normal. Since this is a change for you, it is wonderful that you are going to the doctor, but I wanted to let other women know that the difference between a period that has brown blood/discharge versus the bright red blood has more to do with the rate of flow (brown blood has had more time to darken). That's it---usually nothing serious!

Your nauseousess and bloated stomach could definitely be from a number of things; those are both signs of pregnancy (bloated stomach has more to do with feeling "gassy"), or as you mentioned, from your summer cold.

None of these sound like the beginning of perimenopause (you can click on the word for a description of symptoms); you had a normal period, and then a period that was irregular---likely due to your illness. Many women have irregular periods and this "irregularity" can be very normal, but is a good idea to ask your doctor if you are concerned.
