on my left upper arm the outside muscle has a big dip, almost like the muscle has been cut away. it does become painful. my other arm has a small dip. both are symetrical. please advise as to what this could be. thank you.

Hi, Anon, and welcome to EmpowHer.

It's hard to know what you might be seeing or feeling, but I'm wondering if it would help us if you could look at some pictures of the anatomy of the shoulder and pinpoint where the "dip" in the muscle is and perhaps where the pain is coming from?

Here are some different diagrams of shoulder anatomy:

http://www.kylepalmermd.com/shoulder/shoulder-full-04.htm

Do those diagrams help? Can you tell where the pain originates by comparing your "dip" to these diagrams? And is it constant pain, or pain only when you use the muscles, or pain only when you press on the area?
