Hi... So the story is I last had sex in March this year and since then my period has been on the 1st of every month until about the 7th/8th. This month again I expected to come on on the 1st but I still haven't? I've had spots, mood swings and bloat as I usually do but I am kind of concerned.. Please help!!

I'm 16 years old. I haven't had sex in about 6 months. I have an app that tracks my period and it's pretty much accurate. my period, according to the, is 4 days late which is really weird. but I woke up a morning and there was blood on my pantie so I assumed it was my period so I put on a tampon and went about my day. about 2 hours later, I wanted to take a shower so I took out the Tampon and there was no blood. I'm a little worried because i haven't had any intercourse in 6 months so how could I be pregnant but this is a little strange to me.

Hi Anon,

Thank you for sharing your question with the EmpowHER community.

There are a number of possibilities that could be causing your menstrual cycle to be late. Since you ruled out the main reason pregnancy, here are a few others to consider:

  1. Hormone imbalance
  2. Stress
  3. Age
  4. Medical Condition (Maybe Thyroid issue)

The symptoms you are experiencing are also associated with PMS.  Here is the full article for you to read further.

I hope this helps.
