Ok, so me and my boyfriend had sex about a week ago and we had sex 3 times and one day and we used a condom the first time but after that he pulled out. So, now I'm worried that I'm pregnant. Even though he didn't come. I was supposed to start my period yesterday, but sometimes my period is out of wack. And since about 3 days ago I've been feeling like I've always have to pee, pressure on my lower adomenon, my back and sides have been hurting. Do you think I'm pregnant, have a UTI, or my period is just confused? Any help would be very much appreciated.

Hi Anonymous,

Usually we advise to wait a little longer before going and spending money on a pregnancy test, but for peace of mind and to eliminate the possibility of pregnancy, take the test. Your symptoms sound like you could have a UTI but please see your doctor or go to the hospital asap because if you are having back pain, then this means that the infection may have reached your kidneys. Here's some more information on Urinary Tract Infections--

Please be aware that any time you have unprotected sex there is a chance of pregnancy and this could also introduce bacteria leading to a UTI.

Please keep us updated,

Rosa

do you think that this UTI is what is causing my period to be late?!

No, UTI's are not a cause for a late period. However, it does require medical attention and you should be diagnosed first. Although you may have a UTI, a doctor needs to test and diagnose you.

Okay, so I think I got my period last sunday, but it is very slow, here it is 7 days later and about 3 days ago I started bleeding brownish blackish blood and its still coming out. So I be worried? Could I still be pregnant? I'm not having any symptoms what so ever. Just bleeding brownish blackish blood. What could this be?

Your period can be different colors, different amounts of blood... and all still be your period. This is all normal (blood colored red, pink, brown, or combination of these colors), and some periods may be lighter or heavier, the flow seem to be slower or faster...all within normal range.

You can read more about how to know when your period is normal (or not): How to Know if Your Period is Normal.
