Milky white vaginal discharge

Earlier today I had a clear discharge that just gushed out and this evening I open my legs and what looked like milk came out. I have never seen anything like it before. What does this mean? Am I pregnant? Am I ovulating? Or is this my vagina's way of cleaning itself? Neither discharge had a smell. My menstrual cycle was just last week and was cut short. I have also been having these short moments of feeling like I am going to start on my cycle as well. Any suggestions about what is going on with my body?

Yea iv been to the dr. Several times over it...a few times I was told i might have a slit in side...I have been told I'm one of the women that just stat dry and he had me use those moisture bead things...iv been told yeast infection...iv been treated for s number of things...even quit using condoms for s while thinkin maybe I was allergic to the latex...but nothing has helped...there are times where its not as bad or doesn't start to burn untill my husband pulls out and we switch position and when he inserts himself again its like fire...its very frustrating....like I said I know that I'm not dry even the sheets are wet but that's the only way I can describe the feelin...is that it feels like I'm dry....I almost feel like I'm crazy because I have seen the doctors and been treated for so many different things and its still happening...

I am exactly, 100% the same as this poster (Jan 24, 2010 - 5:42pm.) Investigated a zillion things, tried a zillion things. Sometimes better, sometimes worse (usually the last 2 weeks of cycle between ovulation and next period.) Dry and burning feeling during sex even though there is discharge. Honestly, I don't think doctors and ob/gyns have a clue about this stuff. Maybe a tiny, TINY few do but I seriously doubt that asking a professional will conclusively explain what is going on with our bodies or offer a real, healthy solution. I sometimes do pH tests to see if its over-acidity. I think I *may* be onto something with this but then sometimes I have the discharge and my pH is right where vaginal pH should be. Sometimes I think baking soda sitz baths help, other times I think its my imagination. Anyhow, it continues... profuse, milky white watery discharge gushes out. No foul odor. Some burning but I am sure it is not an typical infection. I've read some things about an overgrowth of the good bacteria... I think maybe this could be a possibility. I continue to come back to something called "cytolytic vaginosis" but I'm not yet convinced. Discussion around this vaginosis is the closest thing I've found to helpful though. The mystery continues...

Hi, I'm curious did you ever find out why did you had or have that white discharge?, Sometime I think it is my imaginary problem feeling wet all the time.. but I know it is there, the white stuff, thin and milky white, odourless.. It will drive me crazy. I will appreciate your answer!

I'm glad you have been to the doctor, but it's frustrating that they are just treating your symptoms without really helping you determine an underlying cause.

I'm not sure if you feel comfortable responding with a name, just so this discussion will be easier to follow. There are many "anonymous" postings in-between, and I'm not sure who I'm talking with! (Even a username would be great!)

Let's see if we can find some answers for you, and I want to make sure I have all of the information correct:

- You have been to the doctor numerous times for symptoms of dryness
- You are posting under a discussion thread of "milky white discharge", and are experiencing wetness (at least during sexual arousal)
- You are not experiencing any other symptoms (pain, itching, burning) except during intercourse
- You have been treated with moisture beads without success
- You have been treated for a yeast infection
- This discharge has been occurring for two years

Can you tell us more about your symptoms (I'm confused between your being dry, then wet during sexual arousal which is normal; and then you are "too wet" or have "too much discharge" at other times?). Can you explain more about what type of discharge you experience, how frequently it occurs, if you have been tracking it along with your period (is it cyclical?), and if you've noticed any other triggers. Can you tell us how old you are, and if you've had any blood work done or hormonal levels checked?

Lastly, just to make sure all of the bases are covered. During sex, you said it feels fine, but when your husband re-inserts his penis...that is when the burning sensation is felt. Do you feel burning at any other time? I'm asking, because this can be a normal response, and is fairly common...this remedy could be as simple as using a lubricant (KY or Astroglide) before he re-inserts his penis, and your vagina may feel like it is "rubbed raw" on the inside, and needs some extra lubrication if intercourse is lasting awhile.

Let's try to find you some answers!

That's interesting. When I had my milky discharge I began to itch, but I never had any pain.
If you are sexually active, does it hurt? If so and you don't have a yeast infection, it is definitely bacteria related.

Mine is just liquid...no clumpy stuff or anything...I don't itch or burn...when I do have sex I always feel like I'm very dry...my husband says I'm not and we have tried everything there is to try but this has gone on for years...I just started the liquid coming out a few months ago and its just happening more often and more liquid at a time...iv treated myself for a yeast infection just to make sure it wasn't that...

I have never had that happen to me. I know that in the past, I was informed that I will always have some kind of vaginal discharge but if it becomes smelly, itchy, or irritating that is when I need to see a doctor. Have you taken the time to see different GYN because sometimes you have those who have no clue (sorry to say, but it happens). Something is going on with you and it needs to be figured out. I do know from experience though that yeast infections are not always clumpy and you can sometimes have a yeast infection that doesn't itch but can make you dry and irritated. What happens when you treat yourself for a yeast infection? Does the discharge ever go away?
Oh, by the way, I would never pay any attention to a man when he says that you are not dry because speaking from experience, only you know when you are dry. You feel dry, for some reason when they place their fingers down there it feels wet to them, but you know when you feel dry. When the vagina is being penetrated by the penis and you feel a little uncomfortable, you know its because you are dry, but for some reason men can't tell unless you are extremely dry.

Have you seen your doctor about this, since you've had this symptom for years?

The vaginal discharge can be many things: cervical mucus (your body cleansing itself), vaginal infection or other condition. It is important to have any new symptoms checked by a doctor.
