My fiance and myself had unprotected sex on the 31st of january 2011, i took the morning after pill on the 2nd february 2011. On the 4th february we had sex again twice (dumb i know), he used the withdrawal method all times. I started a period 8 February but its not as heavy as always and only lasted till 11 Feb. My last period was 18 january 2011 with a 30 day cycle usually. Was i in my fertile period? Was the period i had an effect of the morning after pill or normal period? My next period is due 14/15 february 2011, i had a spot of blood on the 15th Feb but nothing after that. Ive done like 5 hpt's and all negative, even clear blue. But i tested between the 10 february and 13 february, which was probably too early, all before 14 days after sex. I can't seem to get a clear answer as to if it was my period or map bleeding. This week been suffering from constant headaches, stuffy nose, tired, funny taste, hungry, going to the loo more. This morning had pain in my right side and period cramps but no period yet. Is there a possibility that I can be pregnant or is this all in my head and from the MAP. I have 2 kids already, and I just don't feel myself.

Do I wait longer and see if I have a period or should I go for blood tests? I just started a new job and really scared. I'm 34. Periods are always on time. and what are the chances of the spotting on the 15th being implantation bleeding as it was 10 days after sex, but is it possible for the sperm and egg to meet up with me taking MAP. I can't seem to get precise info anywhere. Thanking you in advance.

Hi Nita,
Thank you for your question. First, it is very common to have irregular periods for a couple months after using the morning after pill. Any irregularities that you experience would be the direct cause of the pill. As for your worries about pregnancy, at this point you should wait until you miss a period and take a pregnancy test for a piece of mind.

The reality is anytime you have unprotected sex, there is a possibility of pregnancy. The waiting game is in order here to see if you miss a period. Can you keep us updated on your results?

Good luck,
