Hi,
Do you have any other symptoms of perimenopause, such as irregular periods?
Do you have any other breast sensitivity symptoms, such as the breasts or nipples feeling irritated, reddened, swollen, hot-to-the-touch or itching? Is there any discharge from your nipples?
Your symptoms of sore nipples that feel hard, and are painful enough to not be able to wear a bra, are not typical symptoms of perimenopause or menopause. More general breast pain and soreness are symptoms of perimenopausal women, so it is an important distinction. There are two categories of breast pain, as explained at the Mayo Clinic's website (click on orange hyperlink). It is recommended to call your doctor's office with any breast pain that "persists daily for more than a few weeks or worsens over time".
Perimenopause and Menopause can bring about changes in your breast, just as the fluctuations from your hormones during your monthly cycle cause changes in your breasts. You can read more about these changes here.
