Most likely, you sustained an injury on your tailbone, and bruising or soreness can cause soreness for months following the incident.
If you do not remember sustaining an injury in this area (for instance: from falling down), can you tell us any additional information about your symptoms?

I had been having some problems with constipation when my tailbone first began hurting, but I really did not relate the two problems. I've got the constipation under control now, but the tailbone still hurts. I'd heard from others that it does take a long time for a tailbone to heal. My doctor really did not seem to have any answer.
