So I started my period late and i was worried so I took a pregnancy test and it was net 2 days later I started like normal it was heavy and really red but today its really orange and somewhat light and its not sticking to my tampons I haven't traded brand same old ones I've always used so I don't have any idea as to what's going on it looks like someone colored on my tampon with an orange marker and there's little clots here and there so I guess I was just wondering why his was happening also a while back I was hospitalized for a really bad cyst on my right ovary it burst and went away ita back now I can feel it could it be related? Also I was diagnosed with anemia but I took iron pills twice a day and I got better I read up on this a little bit but im still a little iffy on everything can you help me?

Hi Anon,

Welcome to EmpowHER.  Iron is essential to your health and well-being, playing a key role in circulating oxygen through your body. When your iron levels are low, your cells are deprived of oxygen, which makes you feel weak and exhausted. It also makes it harder for your body to fight off disease. The color changes in your period, can be due to the iron pills.  If this continues, you might need to see a doctor and describe what is happening.
