ovarian cyst treatment options??

So, I have had this problem with cysts on my ovaries for some time now. The pain is so bad that I would throw up, feel like fainting, have really bad diarrhea and so on . I usually can't even walk as the pain progresses. I have tried everything. I really do not know what to do anymore.

First I just took pain meds, vicodin, oxycodone. Pretty much all narcotic pain meds. It only helped sometimes. Then I tried eating healthier foods, being more active and doing the whole all natural method of treatment. That didn't help much. I continued eating healthier and tried some acupuncture. It did not work. Two months ago I went on birth control, cause I was told it could help with the pain I was experiencing from the cysts. I have seen barely any change in my symptoms. I actually overall feel worse than I did before.

A few friends recommended that I undergo a laparoscopy to check things out. Would this be a reasonable option? If not what do you think I should do?

Welcome to EmpowHER. It's important to speak to you doctor about this and let him know the birth control pills are not working. Are you seeing a specialist, such as an OBGYN. This is important you do and talk to him about your options. Ovarian cyst treatments can included birth control and surgery. Cysts that cause pain or other symptoms may be removed.
