Dear Anon,

Thank ou for visiting the EmpowHER and for sharing your question about your period.

I am guessing that you are trying to get pregnant based on your statements and mentioning that you went off the pill.

It sounds like you are used to having irregular periods, other than the times that you were on the pill. Many things can be causing the changes to your period now that you are off of it. Most likely going off the pill is causing this.

Since you are trying to get pregnant, it is best to see your doctor and explain what you are experiencing.

Brown discharge can often be a sign of implantation bleeding, but since the pregnancy tests have been negative, it might just be spotting. Is it possible that it is too soon to have taken the pregnancy test and in fact you could be pregnant?

Brown discharge can also be a sign of ovarian cysts, endometriosis,  fibroids or other conditions.

I would think at this point that you should see your doctor for a pelvic exam, blood work and make sure everything checks out prior to trying to conceive.

Anon, did this help answer your question?

Best,

Kristin
