Q:

Plan B after stopping birth control. Things havent been right since. Is this normal?

I have been birth control for years but due to some health issues decided to not continue after one more month.
I had my "period" on the pill from June 20 to June 24th. I was supposed to start a new (and my last) pack that upcoming Sunday evening, June 26, but realized after sex that I didn't have the pills. I wasn't sure how that would work so I took Plan B about 10-12hrs later. Exactly a week later (the very next Sunday) I got the whole shebang of cramps, bleeding, etc. It went away after about five days but I've felt gross and bloated since then. Bloating, and just that feeling you have when youre on your cycle. My case is weird because I just got off period when I had sex, didn't start the birth control again (I just decided to let the Plan B be the end of it), and bled soon after. My body is out of whack and I'm just looking to find more information about whether this is normal for this abnormal situation.
Thanks!

Hello and welcome to EmpowHer,
The short answer is yes. This is perfectly normal chain of events and I'll explain why.
The normal side effect of taking Plan B is bleeding for about 5 days shortly after just as you had. This happens out of sink with your regular cycle.
Your body probably took it harder than another person may have experienced. As you probably know, both birth control and emergency contraception have hormones. When you take one after another around the same time frame it is very difficult for your body to handle the conflicting hormonal messages.
It will take time for your body to adjust to coming off the birth control pills, plus the added confusion of taking EC.
You don't have to see a doctor or worry though. You just need to relax, eat well, get good exercise and your hormones will balances themselves as long as you take good care of yourself.

Since then I have experienced a very bad bloat every single day. Most mornings it isn't there but once the afternoon hits my stomach swells. At first I thought I was pregnant but I took a test and it came back negative. I've also been having mild cramps but absolutely no discharge.
