I had unprotected sex a few times, he pulled out..but I have been having strange symptoms..that when I checked online all were the same or similar to early signs of pregnancy.

Also around two weeks ago, after I had sex (I thik it was the morning after but can't be 100%)..when I went to the bathroom, when I wiped, there was a very stretchy, clear odourless discahrge that had a slight pink twinge to it..after reading online I am thinking maybe this was showing me I was fertile??

The real question here is yesterday I was 2 days late, but yesterday morning I started what I thought was my period..but it was very thick and dark brown. Today I have bled heavily but the blood is very very dark and has lots of clots.

..could I be pregnant??

EDIT - There are very dark red, almost black coloured bogey type substance..are these clots?

Thanks again for taking the tiem to read and reply..

Yes I could do that - I just feel rather stupid taking a test when it may be absolutly nothing..

...I also feel guilty as I haven't told the would be father about the bleeding as didn't want to make him think it was all clear when I wasn't sure..so now I feel bad as I may have confused everything and worried him for nothing..

Hi, Wilkai,

How are the cramp-like pains and the bleeding different from your normal periods?

Are you normally very regular, or irregular?

It sounds as though you might be having your period, even though it's a little different from usual. Just to be sure, however, you might buy a home pregnancy test. And yes, the small blood-colored objects are probably small clots of blood and endometrial tissue. They are normal, many women have them with their periods.

I have to agree with Virginia -- since you are having sex, please consider visiting your doctor and talking about birth control. The withdrawal method of birth control -- which is what you call pulling out -- has a 1 in 4 chance of pregnancy annually. That means that a fourth of all people using the withdrawal method get pregnant each year.

Do you need help finding a doctor or a community center where you can find information about birth control? If so, let us know what city you live in and see if we can find some information for you.

Thank you very much for your reply Diane..

Well the main difference was that the first day I came on it was very dark brown for ages, which is very unlike me..sometimes I would have brown at the end of my period but not at the beginning. Then the second day (yesterday) I was on very heavy and had lots of clots..(However this could now be wrong as I assumed this as there was lots of blood on the tampon - but after reading a website today I changed to using a pantyliner and infact there isnt much blood at all..just spots (it is mainly when I wipe that there would be more)..so now I am worrying again that I still could be pregnant..

The cramps are different - um it's hard to explain how they just 'feel' different..Earlier when they hurt I pressed my stomach and it felt firmer and would hurt, sort of just under the belly button area. It started this morning with bad lower backache (which i never get..period or not)..and then turned into cramps..

..But as the day has progressed it's gone from the cramps, to feeling very very sick and now I have a sort of 'sicky' headache..I also have no appetitie whatever but when i forced myself to eat something I felt hungry as I was eating it..if that makes any sense..

Thank you ever so much for your help..and no need to worry as I am no longer having sex..

Hi,

Thank you ever so much for your reply..

..this morning I thought I must be pregnant as I was only spotting and bleeding very light, so therefore I thought the bledding would stop today. But it has actually got heavier again..and I am getting cramp like pains (although they feel different from what I would usually get)..does this mean though that I was mistaken and infact I have got my perod so therefore I'm not pregnant..?

Dear Wilkai, thanks for the question and I am going to be candid with you, YES you could be pregnant, "pulling out" is not 100% protection from pregnancy.

By your own statement, "having unprotected sex", you have increased your chances of pregnancy. The best thing for you is to get an over the counter pregnancy test kit in a few days and the results will be hopefully the answer you want. These tests are very accurate!

My question to you is: Are you ready for a POSITIVE result? If not, what are you going to do about it? Please consider talking to a counselor, friend, relative or your significant other about it. If the result is negative, you may want to consider avoiding stressful moments during sexual intimacy by preparing yourself to a fun night of passion with the protection needed to minimize stress and anxiety. Talk to your physician and ask him/her to give options to protect your body from an unwanted pregnancy if you are not ready for one. I am sure there are other community-based programs that offer information on this topic. You may want to consider attending one.
